Setting:
Is the setting the crime-scene or the place where a body was found?
Is the setting going to provide clues?
How will your character interact with the scene?
Can you use the setting in a way that is unexpected?
Character:
Is the character a victim or a perpertrator? Are they going to assist in solving the crime? Are they going to provide an alibi, give a clue, act as an eye-witness? How will the character be introduced into the story?
Do they have a significant relationship with other characters?
You may interpret the character literally or figuratively. For example, the Princess may be a member of royalty or a pampered child.
Is there a connection between the character,setting or object?
Object:
Is the object a weapon, a clue or a red-herring?
How does the object connect to other elements of your narrative?
Was the object hidden or in plain sight?
What does the object reveal about the nature of the crime or the characters in the story?
Can you incorporate the object into the story in a way that is unexpected?
